President
Sharon Siddique
Sharon, 67, has been an academic, a business consultant, and of late a shop owner for low vision products for the past four decades. She was first diagnosed with myopic macular degeneration at the age of 30, shortly after the birth of her second daughter. The condition was mercifully stable for the next 25 years ago, when she developed cataracts, a macular hole, and a retinal detachment in her left eye.  Two vitrectomies later, her condition has stabilized again, and she is taking advantage of relatively good vision to pursue her various interests.

Peh Shing Huei
Shing Huei, 39, is a journalist with The Straits Times. Myopic macular degeneration first struck him in 1999, when he was in his final year at the National University of Singapore. He has lost count of the number of haemorrhages over the years, but despite wavy lines and some blur patches, his vision remains stable and he continues to lead an active independent life doing the three things he enjoys the most: drive, read and watch football games.
